I came across Jerry Sims blog a few weeks ago. He describes himself as a relative novice in the world of digital publishing but he’s set himself a challenge for 2014 – to go back over the ground he has covered as a self-published writer and develop a deeper knowledge. His blog is an online scrapbook of what he has discovered.

Basically, it is a collection of links to other sites, but it is a useful smorgasbord of information from a writer who goes to a lot of trouble to make them available, but who doesn’t mention what he is writing about or how we can find his books. While I’m grateful there is no hard sell, I think he should be more serious about promotion. He is a self-published author – if he doesn’t tell us about his writing who will?

I like him already, some people do things for the love or the hell of it, fed up with people indirectly or directly trying to flog me their latest book!
I was in entertainment, you put on your new show, you got some applause, end of!
Many of us are driven to write anyway, spread whatever ‘on the water’…. if you write a book and sell a few lucky you! If you if get ‘discovered’ lucky you. Life is a lottery! x
Yes, life’s a lottery but you have to buy a ticket. Or if you put on a show let people know it’s happening…!

But you’re right there’s too much blatant -buy me, buy me. I want to be intrigued, interested, tempted, seduced not told I should. Jerry’s erring on the right side but there would be nothing wrong in him offering a service to readers as he does and mentioning his books as well….
Of course, now will have to check out his books!! Intrigued x
