Fantasy doesn’t have to be fantastic said Terry Pratchett Quotes for Writers (and people who like quotes)

dragonFantasy doesn’t have to be fantastic. American writers in particular find this much harder to grasp. You need to have your feet on the ground as much as your head in the clouds. The cute dragon that sits on your shoulder also craps all down your back, but this makes it more interesting because it gives it an added dimension.

A book I thought you had made up until I found it on Amazon. It is a spotter’s guide…”naming dozens of species of faeces and what they all mean, using science, medicine and deadpan humour to get to the, um, bottom of things.”

Oh… wow. What… riveting reading… not. Why? Oh just why? No… don’t answer that!

Actually, that book is in one of Terry’s later works and is a children’s book but a weird author.
