Designed for beginners, emerging writers and authors wanting to explore a new field, you will be working in a glorious renovated Regency kitchen in Hove, East Sussex and have access to The Regency Town House’s specialist library.

This exciting new course is dedicated to writing history in all its forms – from Regency Romances to factual family history .
The course runs on Monday mornings March 10th, March 17th and March 24th starting at 11am and finishing at 1.30pm.
In the first two hours we will explore ways of bringing the past to life through discussion, reading and writing exercises. At 1pm we will break for lunch – bring your own – and we will chat about books, publishing, research and what Regency ladies wore underneath their dresses (or when we first started to use tea bags or the last series of Bridgerton or…)
You could:
The cost: £45 for the entire course (plus eventbrite booking fee) which works out at £15 for every two and a half hour session. It is below market price because we want to share our love of history and get people talking and writing about it. This course will give you the tools to dive into the past. It will also be fun. If there isn’t laughter in a creative writing class something has gone wrong.

There’s lot more information HERE and that’s also the place to book your seat at The Regency Town House kitchen table.
If you have a question not answered here, drop me a line at bridget @ bridgetwhelan.com. Put Writing History in the subject line. I would love to see you there.
My background is in research and journalism and I have had one novel published (set in the 1960s before The Beatles) and one writing guide Back to Creative Writing School . It has been used in schools in the UK and the USA, has a ton of reviews on Amazon and a bestselling author (of historical fiction) described it as the creative writing bible.
It might also be useful to know that I have taught fiction and non-fiction on university courses, in draughty church halls and under a Mediterranean sun. I have been a lottery-funded Writer in Residence at a Brighton community centre and an online agony aunt for budding short story writers.
To find out more, have a look around this site. It’s been going in one form or other since 2010.

I suppose flying over to grab a seat at the kitchen table is out of the question?
