DID YOU KNOW that the word pupil…

… as in pupil of the eye was originally a metaphor, not a factual term.  The Latin word pupilla means  a little doll and was used because you can see a tiny image of yourself when looking into another person’s eye.

    Pretty good, isn’t it? I suppose it shows that people have always been hungry to understand things through imagery and have a need to make language as vivid and as arresting as possible.
