CREATIVE NONFICTION…Safari Friday searching the web for writers and readers
Brevity is a free online quarterly journal for creative non fiction, and I love it for the quality of its writing.
All articles and essays are 750 words or less and, although they do publish new writers, many of their prize winning contributors are well established in their own field. The archives stretch back to 1997. Here’s a sample of the essays you can read in the latest issue: The Field Guide to Resisting Temptation How to Leave a Room I Wish I Could Write Like Russel Edson Interview with Emily Dickenson Submission are closed until September 1, 2013 and it’s not a way to get rich as authors are only paid a $45 honorarium for work selected, but I think publication says a lot abut the kind of writer you are – ie. good.
Safari = Swahili for long journey. I am on the look out for anything accessible from a keyboard that educates, entertains, intrigues, raises a smile. Anything that helps a reader get through the day or a writer the next draft. Let me know if you have a website that you’d like featured or discover something that really should be shared.
