A book worth buying and a charity worth supporting

I’m not making any excuses. This post is a brazen plug for a book that has just been published on Amazon. it is the work of 17 authors and is a very good read.  You will meet memorable characters on every page from the silent workhouse survivor to the wife who is right to be suspicious of her husband’s sat nav – but that’s not why I am asking you to buy it.
I edited the book and I think you will enjoy the Where Did that Come From? section at the end of every chapter where you will discover the source of each story. But that’s not the reason why I think you should  have Dancing with Words on your bookshelf.
No, I hope you will consider spending £7.99 on this hefty paperback (at 280 pages you are definitely getting your money’s worth) because it is a tribute to the nurses and consultants, admin staff  and charity shop workers and all the other people  who make MARTLETS HOSPICE possible.
I’ve always thought that the hospice movement was a good idea, but 18 months ago I discovered what it means in practice when my husband was struck down by a savage cancer.

It is always hard to part, but this is how life should end, with care and expert attention, with grace and dignity, and with love. The Martlets serve the residents of Brighton and Hove. They served my husband and our family well and their support did not stop when he died.

I didn’t write any of the stories in this book. My literary contribution has been the explantatory notes and the blurb but I suppose this is my long thank you letter to a service that is only partially funded by the NHS. It needs to raise £9000 every day in order to survive.

No one was paid a fee or claimed expenses. We pledge that every penny from this book will go to the hospice. They need it. We need them.
