I’D LIKE TO ASK A FAVOUR….
If you have a minute – maximum 90 seconds – can you fill out this very short survey? It’s about the way the 2012 London Paralympics were portrayed. In a deliberate change of style, Channel 4 labelled the competitors as superhuman.
Ah, I hear you asking what’s this got to do with writing?
1) As writers, it’s useful for us to explore how far words can change perceptions and to reflect on whether it is a lasting change.
2) The intention behind Channel 4’s branding was clearly positive but was that how others saw it….?
