for writers and readers….

All Good Books are Alike…Ernest Hemingway Quotes for Writers (and people who like quotes)

painting of girl reading

All good books are alike in that they are truer than if they had really happened and after you are finished reading one you will feel that all that happened to you and afterwards it all belongs to you; the good and the bad, the ecstasy, the remorse, and sorrow, the people and the places and how the weather was. If you can get so that you can give that to people, then you are a writer.

I like what he is saying and also the way he said it, almost as if he knew this since he could read but he was still working it out in his mind…

It’s magic when you find a book that does it to you…Ah, to be able to write one that does it to other people.

This is why I love reading . . . and the challenge of writing!

In this sense, it really does help to ‘write what you know’. That way, you’ll achieve the sense of authenticity even easier

Couldn’t agree more. To me, it’s that stunned feeling I get when I finish the last page, desperate for more, and realize it’s over. Now, that’s a good book!

I actually sit at a desk with a Hemingway quotation. It is slightly different though. Alcohol is featured in said quotation.
