The Power of Stories – Emmanuel Reed Manirakiza Quotes for Writers (and peope who like quotes)

African skyInside stories lies transformational power,
Power that moves the invisible us,
Power that stirs our emotions,
To experience the experiences of others;
Stories allow us to imagine and live momentarily the lives of others.
And thereafter set a different course and perspective for the life we seek to live.

Emmanuel Reed Manirakiza (c.1993-2012) in a speech to the African Leadership Academy held in South Africa in September 2010. I found this quote on the Bookshelfz website written by Alexander Atkins and this young man’s words serve as reminder of how important stories are in allowing us to step outside our everyday lives.

    Morrissey announced that he’ll be releasing a novel today and I am so excited for it. He’s a gifted writer and storyteller.

      You may hate me for this, but I never really got him – perhaps I haven’t heard enough or read enough.

        I’d never hate you for that đŸ™‚ If you did want to get into his words sometime, his lyrics are very insightful, particularly during The Smiths years and his early solo career.
