Science fiction gets its own review column

The NEW YORK TIMES will publish a bi-weekly column devoted to book reviews of science fiction and science fantasy. Very good news for authors and readers of a genre that often feels it is ignored by ‘serious’ media.

The new column will  feature science fiction, fantasy, horror, some Young Adult, some graphic novels, some anthologies, and even some nonfiction where it is relevant.

In theory the column can cover self-published books, but the New York Times never mentions self-published books, unless they can be found in “general interest” book shops which I think rules most of them out (unless American readers know different and there is an easy way for self-published authors to persuade book shops to stock their work).
