Spend all the energy on possible despair. Avert that possible despair. Transfer the despair to the next manuscript. Right away, like the next day.

Totally agree with David Mitchell. Although as Mira says it is not always easy, it is like their child they have nurtured for so long and now they must let it go out into the world….agony for a parent.
