I like to call it night-time brain: the way your mind seems to function on a different frequency than it does during daylight hours – which can be good or bad but also can lead to unexpected epiphanies or experiences that wouldn’t be the same at any other time of day.

    From the author of the 2011 bestselling novel THE NIGHT CIRCUS (reputedly born from NaNoWriMo),about a Victorian-era London magical circus open only from sunset to sunrise, I’d say she’s in a position to know.

    Works for me. When I was writing my first novel, most of the creative stuff came between 10 pm and 2 am. During the day, I proofread, revised, and did research.
