 Corridor8, an online platform for critical art writing, invites proposals for an early career writer-in- residence at The Tetley, Leeds

The writer will spend at least 10 days at The Tetley for a fee of £1000 and have the opportunity to develop their own writing and contribute to the The Tetley’s wider programme, diversifying their experience of writing in art organisational settings and developing public programmes.

 Run a Community Arts Festival (individual or organisation) — East and West Midlands of England

 The Mighty Creatives (TMC) is organising a series of community festivals over the next three years in Corby, East Lindsey, Tamworth and Wolverhampton. Four artists (or companies) will come on board, one in each of these locations and will work with two groups of young people to plan and create an Arts Festival linked to Shakespeare – his life, his work, his themes, his impact. TMC strongly welcome applications from disabled artists.

Artists / companies will be paid £15,000 each, based on an approximate workload of 100 days paid at £150 per day.

Part Time Unpaid Internship for TV company   — Los Angeles, CA

The idea candidate will be available to work at least two days a week at the Thinkfactory Media, beginning in late August/early September and be able to use this internship for academic course credit.

Thinkfactory Media has created award-winning programming in virtually every genre of television including: features, unscripted series, documentaries, mini-series, branded entertainment projects, concerts, music specials and various movies of the week.

Duties include:
-creative research and brainstorming for new and existing series in development
-pulling clips for sizzle reels
-opportunity to edit w/Avid if desired (not required)

Freelance Film/TV Writer  — Los Angeles, CA

Euramco Pictures is looking for an accomplished writer who specializes in writing political thrillers, drama or action adventure. Writer has to have experience in international political affairs (European), with minimum experience of two films or TV serIes produced. Euramco Pictures owns story written by Renato Romano

Salary
Salary – $3,000 plus $20,000 if the project receives financing (payable $10,000 at start of production and $10,000 during production).

 An established UK publisher is looking for experienced writers to contribute to a series of English Language GCSE resources, and for GCSE English Literature Poetry resources for students

The writing ‘window’ for the materials would begin in September with a deadline for delivery of manuscripts in January 2017.

Emerging BAEM writers  — East London

British-based Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic writers in the first stage of their professional career as a fiction writer are invited to apply for a place on the Almasi League emerging writers programme

Successful applicants will take part in a structured workshop and tutorial programme over 10 months starting in October 2016 and culminating in public performances, mentored by Almasi League Writer in Residence, Courttia Newland.

Preference will be given to those who have left university over 12 months before the date of application or have not undertaken any Further Education at all, and to those living or raised in East London boroughs (Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Waltham Forest, Newham).

I post these jobs in good faith and do my best to ensure they are not of the write-a-full-length-book for £50 type. But I am all too fallible so please do your research before making any kind of commitment.
Also be wary of anyone who wants you to write for free for the experience or the exposure.  
Most writers do write for free sometimes but ask yourself:
Could you be taking a paying job away from another writer?
Is this something you could be proud of including on your CV?
If they would pay a car mechanic or a plumber, why won’t they pay a writer?
