A Woman Only Writing Competition with a special prize: time to write

girl-and-clock
Need space, time and hard cash in order to write?  Words And Women are offering all three to the winner of their 2016 prose competition.

First prize is £1,000 and a month’s writing residency  provided by Hosking Houses Trust.
There is also £600 and a mentoring session with Jill Dawson of Gold Dust if you win the regional East of England prize.

They want prose on any theme and in any form: fiction, memoir, creative non-fiction, life-writing. The word limit is 2,200 words and the deadline is November 15 2016.

By the way, the prize money is a condition of the writer taking up the residency. You can’t have one without the other. The winner will be obliged to pay any expenses – travel, subsistence etc – incurred when taking up the residency, but hey, that’s what the £1000 is for – it’s buying you time to write.

The mentoring session with Jill Dawson of Gold Dust will take place in Cambridge, Ely or London where Jill will provide the winner with detailed advice, on receipt in advance of two chapters of a work-in-progress, a brief 1-2 page synopsis and a letter for prospective submission to agents.

Winners and 20 shortlisted entries will be published in the annual anthology.

Good luck!
